How to use AnyDesk for Remote Assistance
To help us assist you remotely, we will use a program called AnyDesk. Below are the steps to download, install, and use AnyDesk for our remote session:
Step 1: Download AnyDesk
- Open your web browser and go to the official AnyDesk website.
- On the homepage, you’ll see a red “Download” button. Click on it, and the download will start automatically.
- If prompted, choose a location to save the file, then click "Save."
Step 2: Install AnyDesk
- Once the download is complete, locate the file (usually in your Downloads folder) and double-click it to start the installation.
- Windows: The file will be named something like
AnyDesk.exe
. - Mac: The file will be named something like
AnyDesk.dmg
.
- Windows: The file will be named something like
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
- Note: On Windows, you can run AnyDesk without installation by double-clicking the downloaded file and selecting "Run."
Step 3: Open AnyDesk
- After installation, open AnyDesk by double-clicking the AnyDesk icon on your desktop or by searching for it in your Start Menu/Applications folder.
- When AnyDesk opens, you’ll see a 9-digit code under “This Desk” or “Your Address.” This is your unique AnyDesk address.
Step 4: Share Your AnyDesk Address
- Share the 9-digit AnyDesk address with us. You can do this by:
- Typing it in an email or chat message.
- Reading it out over the phone.
- Once we receive your AnyDesk address, we will use it to connect to your device.
Step 5: Accept the Remote Session Request
- After you provide your AnyDesk address, you’ll receive a connection request from us.
- A window will pop up on your screen asking if you want to accept the request. Click "Accept" to allow us to connect.
- Once connected, you may see a small toolbar at the top of the screen showing the status of the connection.
Step 6: During the Session
- Interaction: You can still use your computer while we’re connected. If we need to control your device, you’ll see our cursor moving on the screen.
- Chat: If needed, you can use the chat function within AnyDesk to communicate with us during the session.
Step 7: Ending the Session
- When the session is over, you can either close the AnyDesk window or click "Disconnect" on the toolbar.
- You can also end the session at any time by clicking "Cancel" or "Close" if you no longer need assistance.
Important Security Tips:
- Only accept connection requests from trusted contacts.
- Never share your AnyDesk address with anyone you don’t trust.
- You can always see what the remote user is doing on your screen.
